Jeannie Polisuk
Jeannie Polisuk’s work consists of large-scale paintings defined by intricate patterns, vibrant color, and richly layered surfaces. Inspired by the movements, rhythms, and textures found in nature, she seeks to capture an organic quality that feels both instinctual and immersive. Through intuitive mark-making, a quiet intensity builds into dense, unstructured realities that mirror the unpredictable beauty of the natural world.
Her paintings often begin in a place of chaos, intricate, layered, and unresolved, before gradually arriving at a sense of calm. As each work evolves, disorder gives way to harmony, resulting in compositions that feel peaceful, soothing, and contemplative. This process reflects an ongoing exploration of balance, allowing the work to resolve itself rather than conform to a fixed narrative.
At the core of her practice is a desire to leave space for the viewer. Rather than telling them what they should see, she invites the individual to see what they need to see, allowing memory, emotion, and personal meaning to unfold. Exploring themes of memory and identity, Jeannie earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Ottawa, Canada and currently resides in Naples, Florida, returning each summer to her hometown of Ottawa.
